PHOTOGRAPHS & PLANS
(Continued)
The
John Maxwell Collection has
plans for C&S baggage-mail cars #10-12 with end platforms. It is their plan
C-108.
Ed Gebhart has a plan for C&S
postal baggage car #11 in the Jul/Aug 1989 issue of Narrow Gauge & Short Line
Gazette.
Below is the Engineering Department’s car diagram for C&S
baggage-mail cars #10, #11 and #12 updated through 1918. (Note that this is
not a scale drawing.) This
shows a Railway Mail Service “Standard” 15'-0" Narrow Gauge Mail Apartment. Note
that the mail cases are arranged in a “U” shape with its bottom against the
amidships partition of the car. This was part of the 1912 regulations. Prior to
this time, the “U” shape had its bottom against the end wall of the car. Click
