The Enginehouse
Our enginehouse was built new in 1965 to provide a much-needed maintenance facility for the growing fleet of steam locomotives. It was designed to resemble a typical shortline enginehouse from the early 20th century. It is equipped with a machine shop. Spare parts aren't available for steam locomotives, so they must be made from raw materials. Workers may include machinists, boilermakers, and general mechanics. Many bring their expertise from their weekday jobs, but most learned the trade of steam maintenance at Mid-Continent.
