This issue features the Annual Report which provides information on Mid-Continent Railway Museum's finances during the previous fiscal year as well as lists donors and volunteers during that time. In addition to the financial reports, the issue includes museum news briefs, a look into a Car Shop Work Weekend and a photo-essay of progress on the C&NW #1385 tender rebuild. Cover photo: This was the scene just over a year ago, May 5, 2011. The display structure north of the North Freedom depot was in the midst of being rebuilt along with the rest of the platform area as part of the recovery efforts that have followed the disastrous June 2008 flooding. In this photograph, employees of Knapp Rail Builders were installing the dual-gauge track which allows for display of both standard and narrow gauge equipment under the shelter. By the time of printing, this premium display area will again be populated with railroad equipment. Note that new handrails in the foreground and surrounding the structure were crafted from boiler tubing that had been retired from Mid-Continent Railway Museum’s locomotives.
